Belize Private Island Resort

Our Story

Though it may be difficult to imagine, less than two decades ago there was only one small building and a vision of an idyllic Island Resort. The resort’s roots were actually put down on Waterfoot Caye about 30 years ago when Edgar and Barbara Pascascio purchased their own private island to use as a family get-away haven. As the years passed and memories were made, children grew and the Pascascio’s “home away from home” remained an idyllic escape.

It was then, in 2001, when Edgar’s son proposed turning the island into a romantic, but also a family-friendly resort. Although a tough feat to accomplish, the island was backfilled starting in 2006. After funding was secured in June of 2012, architectural renderings and blueprints morphed into the vacation paradise the Pascascios had envisioned. As one of few Belizean owned resorts, Yok Ha operated with the intention to provide an unforgettable Belize Island experience worthy of travelers from around the world.

Eager for their dreams to take off, a pier was built. Soon after, the restaurant building, named “Chief’s Place” became the first formal structure. Within a year, five guest cabanas were built, outfitted with lovely baths and decorated with local textiles, furnishings and art. The finishing touches were added in February 2013 and Yok Ha warmly welcomed first guests—Tom and Lisa Zetah— who checked into their private enclave on April 2, 2013.

We are consistently making changes to better suit the needs of our guests, updating and renovating where necessary. Under their leadership, Yok Ha has gained a solid reputation for pairing the warmth of family vacationing with an authentic Caribbean Island experience.

The Pascascios are particularly delighted to welcome couples on their Belize honeymoon within the privacy of beautifully-appointed, romantic cabanas. A Belize Island Destination Wedding is also made a reality on the resort’s beachfront. Given the positivity of their feedback and its success thus far, it’s pretty clear that Yok Ha will continue to make big waves for tourism in Belize.

Our management team is  backed by a team of warm and friendly service professionals, all proud to call themselves Belizean and a part of the Yok Ha Family, hope to continue sharing their little piece of paradise along the Carribean Sea with all guests who visit as strangers and leave as friends.

“The owners who are Belizean husband and wife, are the most peaceful and relaxed people you will ever meet. As soon as you greet them, you know this is a special place with 5-star service.”
