Southwest Airlines introduces direct flights from Fort Lauderdale to Belize

Southwest Airlines has just announced that it will be adding a new non-stop flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Belize beginning on June 4, 2017. The new Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) to Belize City route is in addition to Southwest’s direct flights already in operation from Houston’s Hobby Airport (HOU) and Dallas Love Field (DAL). Belize is rapidly becoming one of the biggest international destinations for Southwest, the airline having previously announced that it will begin offering non-stop service from the Denver International Airport (DEN) to Belize beginning on March 11, 2017.

The new flights are expected to come with very affordable fares. According to the announcement on Southwest’s official website, one-way fares from Fort Lauderdale to Belize will begin at just $79. Travel experts expect that fares will continue to become more affordable as more airlines scramble to bring passengers from the United States to Belize.
Southwest’s decision to base their new flights in Fort Lauderdale, a city located approximately 30 miles north of Miami, is expected to bring fares down across the board for travelers living on the east coast. The flying time for the new Fort Lauderdale-Belize route is approximately three hours, making it easier than ever for Americans to enjoy a vacation in Belize.
