With so much to explore, do, and see in Belize, one week will never be enough to experience everything in the country. The Yok Ha Island Resort is located on a privately owned island approximately eight miles off the coast of Dangriga in southeastern Belize. With five intimate cabins, a gourmet restaurant, bar, and dive shop, the Yok Ha Island Resort has everything you need to relax and unwind. During the day, you can take a kayak to explore nearby islands, head to the mainland for adventures, or take a trip to the Belize Barrier Reef to enjoy fishing, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
We’ve set up this itinerary just to show you what’s possible on a fabulous vacation while staying at Yok Ha Island Resort in Belize.
Arrive in Belize City. From there, you can either choose to take a domestic flight to Dangriga or have the resort pick you up and drive you to Dangriga along with a stop at the Belize Zoo.
One amazing day trip idea is to visit the famous ATM Cave. Forgotten and abandoned for more than 1,000 years, the cave is a treasure trove of ancient Maya relics, including the complete skeletons of human sacrificial victims.
Just a few miles from the resort lie two enormous marine parks that are outstanding places for bird watching, wildlife spotting, swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
On the mainland just a few miles from Dangriga is the pristine wilderness of the Cockscomb Basin Nature Reserve. Although hard to spot during the day, jaguars roam the reserve along with monkeys, crocodiles, birds, and deer.
Belize is famous for its ancient Maya ruins. Take a day and explore places like Xunantunich (where the largest royal tomb was ever discovered) and Cahal Pech (built for Maya nobles) before cooling off with a refreshing dip in the Inland Blue Hole.
Way on the outer edges of the Belize Reef lies the amazing Glover’s Reef atoll. This collection of sugar sand beaches and crystal clear lagoons is the perfect place to scuba dive or snorkel.
After all the fun and excitement, why not take a day to relax and unwind by staying at the Yok Ha Island Resort? Enjoy a good meal and watch a spectacular sunset right from the comfort of your own cabana.
Following a week of excitement, fun, adventure, and relaxation, you’ll head home feeling refreshed, energized, and rejuvenated.
